They work great. No prblem when you need to shift. Very smooth and very reasonably priced.

  • Excellent shifters for the price

Yeah, like the other guy said: these shifters are cheap, but they get the job done with ease. I have no problem with the size; they're similar to early/mid 80s thumbies in size and funcion. Not as well finished as vintage Shimano or Suntour, but definitely good enough. Shifters are metal, with plastic cover for the lever. I've run'm a looooooong time without any damage or premature wear. I'm pretty much ready to ditch indexed shifting for good; i can set up and tune indexed systems easily, but the price are lame and running these reminds me of how cool friction shifting is....

  • Let's be clear . . .

I'll admit, the shifters were quite a bit larger than I expected, and the plastic casing seems a bit flimsy, but lets be clear: I paid a grand total of $7.96, including shipping and tax, for these shifters.

They are worth every penny! Simple, olde-skool, and they work! Easy to install and no worries about adjusting for index. The ratcheting gives a good sense of how far to turn the lever. I'm running these on a Shimano Alivio 3x7, and it's about 3 ratcheting clicks per gear on the right shifter.

I put these on my Specialized Hardrock when I put a set of Velo Orange Montmartre handlebars on it and turned it into my townie/errand bike.
